Saint Louis vs Rhode Island Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/7/23

The Rhode Island Rams and the Saint Louis Billikens meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Chaifetz Arena. Rhode Island enters this one at 8-15 overall. The Rams lost to Saint Joseph’s in their last game. As for Saint Louis, they’re 15-8 on the season following a loss to VCU back on Friday. Rhode Island Rams 

Rhode Island beat only Stony Brook, Illinois State, Army, UMass Lowell and Fordham over their first 15 games. The Rams are 3-4 since then with losses to UMass, Richmond, George Mason and Saint Joseph’s in that time. 

Matched up against Saint Joseph’s last Wednesday, the Rams took a 36-26 deficit into the locker room. Rhode Island was outscored 28-24 from there and lost 64-50. Brayon Freeman was tops in scoring with 14 points. 

Saint Louis Billikens

Over on the Saint Louis side, they lost to Maryland, Auburn, Iona, Boise State, SIUE and UMass in their first 16 outings. The Billikens have since hit a 5-2 run with losses to Fordham and VCU in the last pair. 

On Friday versus VCU, Saint Louis went into the second half with a 34-31 deficit. The Billikens didn’t end up getting any closer on a 39-34 second half run and lost 73-65. Gibson Jimerson topped the team on 24 points.

I’ll probably stay with Saint Louis here. The Billikens need a good showing after consecutive losses, however this matchup should be well within their wheelhouse. Saint Louis is sitting on consecutive losses with a tepid 130 total points scored between them. Given the fact that Rhode Island has given up 70 or more points in three of the last four, the Billikens should have a good shot at a fairly high total in this one. It’ll probably take a fast start to get there but I like Saint Louis better cover-wise.
