The Fairfield Stags and the Saint Peter’s Peacocks meet Friday in college basketball action from Yanitelli Center. Here’s a Saint Peter’s vs Fairfield prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Saint Peter’s vs Fairfield pick.

Fairfield Stags Betting Preview

The Stags have a couple of pretty decent runs in the books so far this year, but overall they’ve been struggling with their record. Fairfield opened on a 2-4 run with wins over New Hampshire and John Jay College among losses to Rhode Island, Georgetown, Drexel, and Yale. Wins over Vermont, Fairleigh Dickinson and Rider came next, then five straight losses to Mount St. Mary’s, Central Connecticut, Monmouth, Columbia, and Merrimack. A 3-2 run ensued with wins over Iona, Niagara, and Manhattan among losses to Marist and Canisius. Since then it’s been a rough 1-4 run with a lone win over Marist. The losses otherwise have come versus Merrimack, Quinnipiac, Iona, and Sacred Heart in that time. In all that gives the Stags a rough 9-15 overall record through their first 24 games of the 2024-25 season.

Back on Saturday versus Sacred Heart in their latest outing, the Stags came out of the locker room with a 33-33 tie. Fairfield was outpaced 44-38 the rest of the way, however, and ended up losing 77-71 in the end. Prophet Johnson led the way on a double-double in the defeat, notching 18 points with 10 boards and two steals. Braden Sparks chipped in 18 points with one rebound, while Deon Perry led the bench players with 12 points, two rebounds, two steals, and one assist in 25 minutes of work on the court.

Saint Peter’s Peacocks Betting Preview

Over on the Saint Peter’s side, they came out of the gate this year with a reasonable run. The wins have been very few and far between since early December, though. After losses to Seton Hall, UMass Lowell, and Rutgers in their first three outings, Saint Peter’s beat UMBC, Saint Elizabeth, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Duquesne in the next four games. A 3-5 run came next with wins over Delaware, Canisius, and Sacred Heart among losses to Manhattan, Iona, Quinnipiac, Niagara, and Marist. It’s been a five-game losing streak for the Peacocks since then. Those defeats have come at the hands of Merrimack, Rider, Mount St. Mary’s, Siena, and Manhattan. That makes a 7-13 overall run through 20 games so far for Saint Peter’s.

Matched up against Manhattan in the Saturday game last weekend, the Peacocks gave up a 40-35 halftime lead with a 36-31 second-half deficit. After overtime, Saint Peter’s had a tough loss 84-83 on the road. Marcus Randolph was the team’s leading scorer with 24 points and two rebounds. Bryce Eaton added 13 points with six boards and five assists. Adetokunbo Bakare came off the bench to chip in 12 points with four rebounds and four assists, while Eric Morgan had 11 bench points and a pair of assists in 19 minutes of work out there.

Why the Saint Peter’s Peacocks will win

  • Fairfield has lost the first half in each of its last nine games at Yanitelli Center.

Why the Fairfield Stags will win

  • Saint Peter’s has lost each of its last seven night games against the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
  • Saint Peter’s has lost the first half in three of its last four games against the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Saint Peter’s vs Fairfield Prediction

I’m staying with Fairfield. There’s not a lot to get excited about here if you’re not a fan of either team, though. The Stags didn’t play all that well versus Sacred Heart in their most recent home loss, posting just 40 percent from the field with a 40-36 rebounding deficit. The 71 points were Fairfield’s highest total since January 23 (87 in an OT road win over Manhattan) however, which broke a string of four straight games with fewer than 70 points scored.

As for Saint Peter’s, they’re coming off a tough loss to Manhattan. The Peacocks were pretty spotty from the line (12-of-20 for 60 percent) and gave up 16 turnovers for 16 Jaspers points. Saint Peter’s should look better in this home matchup, but I don’t quite think they’ll cover.
