The Manhattan Jaspers and the St. Peter’s Peacocks meet in college basketball action from the Yanitelli Center on Friday afternoon.
The Manhattan Jaspers will try to build on an 80-69 road win over Marist last time out. Samir Stewart has 16.9 PPG with 3.7 APG while Ant Nelson has 14.8 PPG and 3.8 APG this season. Josh Roberts has 12.6 PPG and a team-high 8.9 RPG to lead the Jaspers in rebounding while Elijah Buchanan has 11 PPG to cap off the scoring in double figures for Manhattan so far this season. As a team, Manhattan is averaging 71.2 PPG on 44.4% shooting from the field, 34.2% from three and 68.5% from the foul line this season.
The St. Peter’s Peacocks will be on the hunt for a win after a 75-45 win over Maryland last time out. Isiah Dasher has 13.5 PPG while Jaylen Murray has 12.6 PPG and 3.2 APG as the only other double-digit scorer for St. Peter’s up to this point in the year. Latrell Reid has team-highs of 6.6 RPG and 4.2 APG to lead the Peacocks in rebounding and assists this season. As a team, Saint Peter’s Is averaging 64 PPG on 38.8% shooting from the field, 30.8% from behind the arc and 67.3% from the foul line this season.
Manhattan is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Friday games while the over is 18-5 in their last 23 games following an ATS win. Saint Peter’s is 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17 home games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall while the under is 13-4 in their last 17 Friday games.
I get the case to be made for either side in this game, but I like the under here. The under has been a mainstay in conference play for Saint Peter’s the last couple of seasons, and even with a change in coaching, the low-scoring play has remained for the Peacocks. These two are far from world-beaters offensively, so give me the under in a 40 minute slop fest here.
