Seattle held a 12-4 record through the first 16 games, losing to only Washington, Oregon State, Utah State and Iona. The Redhawks have beaten UTRGV, TX-Arlington, New Mexico State, Utah Valley, Tarleton State and Southern Utah since then. 

On Saturday versus Southern Utah, Seattle was up by a slim 36-34 margin at the break. The Redhawks surged on a 45-26 second-half run to seal the 81-60 win. Riley Grigsby led the team on 33 points with four rebounds. 

Sam Houston State Bearkats 

Over on the Sam Houston side, they started at 11-4 with losses to Nevada, Oklahoma State, Utah Valley and Grand Canyon. The Bearkats are 4-1 in their last five with wins over Tarleton State, Utah Tech, Stephen F. Austin and UTRGV. 

Matched up against UTRGV on Saturday, Sam Houston State had a modest 36-33 lead by halftime. The Bearkats hit a 47-31 stretch in the second half and secured the win 83-64. Qua Grant led the team on 20 points and Cameron Huefner added 17 points.

I’ll probably stick with Sam Houston State. You could make a case either way, though; this should be a pretty fun matchup. The Bearkats have their offense working well over the last seven games, hitting 68 or more points in each of those outings. Sam Houston State has gone 5-2 in that time. As for Seattle, they’ve hit 66 or more points in each of their last nine games, going 8-1 in those outings. This one could go a lot of different ways but I’m thinking it’s more prone to be a shootout. I like Sam Houston State to eke out the cover in a high-scoring and entertaining affair.
