Samford vs UNC Greensboro 2/19/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The UNC Greensboro Spartans and the Samford Bulldogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Pete Hanna Center. UNC Greensboro is fresh off a Thursday matchup versus Chattanooga. The Spartans ended up winning by three points. As for Samford, they played VMI in their Thursday outing. In that one the Bulldogs eked out an overtime victory. UNC Greensboro started out the year at 10-5 before a rough 2-5 stretch in January and early February. The Spartans would hit a win streak over Furman, Western Carolina and the Citadel before a February 13 loss to Mercer. 

On Thursday versus Chattanooga, the Spartans nursed a one-point lead by halftime. UNC Greensboro hit a 43-41 run in the second for a 73-70 victory. Bas Leyte was the team’s leading contributor on 23 points and four rebounds.

Over on the Samford side, they went 10-2 to start the year, then similarly hit a rough patch with a 1-6 run in January. The Bulldogs would then win five of the next six games over Mercer, Western Carolina, Chattanooga, Wofford and East Tennessee State. 

Matched up against VMI on Thursday, Samford trailed by three points at halftime but ended up tying things up by the end of the second. After overtime the Bulldogs had a tight 100-99 win. Ques Glover doubled up with 26 points, 10 assists and four boards. 

The Bulldogs are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS loss and 6-2 ATS in the last eight overall. The over is 61-30-1 in Samford’s last 92 after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Spartans are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. The over is 6-2 in UNCG’s last eight overall. 

PICK: I’m going to take Samford here. The Bulldogs have been playing it very tight over this three-game win streak; they’ve hit two overtime victories and won the other by just four points. Still, Samford is rolling along on a 6-1 run right now and looking pretty good. 

The Spartans won the last time these teams met up in a 61-58 affair at home. I like Samford to get some revenge in this rematch and keep their win streak going with a cover.
