The Air Force Falcons and the San Diego State Aztecs meet in college basketball action from the Viejas Arena on Saturday night.
The Air Force Falcons will look to rebound from a 78-44 loss to UNLV last time out. A.J. Walker leads the Falcons in scoring with 14.9 PPG as the lone double-digit scorer for the Falcons so far this season while Jake Heidbreder has 9.6 PPG and Ethan Taylor has 9.6 PPG with a team-high 5.2 RPG to lead the Falcons on the glass this season. Taylor also has a team-high 3.7 APG to lead Air Force in assists while Joseph Octave has 7.5 PPG as well on the year. As a team, Air Force is averaging 59.2 PPG on 44% shooting from the field, 34.8% from three and 64.4% from the foul line while allowing 64 PPG on 44.6% shooting from the field and 30.6% from three this season.
The San Diego State Aztecs will look to build on back-to-back wins after a 72-62 win over San Jose State last time out. Matt Bradley leads the Aztecs in scoring with 17.7 PPG along with 5.3 RPG as the only double-digit scorer for San Diego State so far this season. Lamont Butler has 8.7 PPG while Nathan Mensah has 7.2 PPG and a team-high 6.9 RPG to lead the Aztecs on the glass and Trey Pulliam has 8,2 PPG with a team-high 3.4 APG to lead the Aztecs in the assist department this season. As a team, San Diego State is averaging 64.7 PPG on 41.9% shooting from the field, 33% from three and 68.1% from the foul line while allowing 57.5 PPG on 37.6% shooting from the field and 30.2% from three this season.
Air Force is 1-10 ATS in their last 11 games following a loss by 20 or more points while the under is 15-3 in their last 18 road games. San Diego State is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following an ATS loss while the under is 9-2 in their last 11 home games.
I get why you could look at Air Force here, because a slow-paced team like the Falcons taking up a lot of clock and limiting possessions makes it hard for San Diego State to cover a big number like this. However, the Aztecs have been playing stacked defense once again and while they’ve had issues covering bigger numbers in their last couple of games, there’s no denying that the Aztecs are the far better team here and I think Air Force could struggle to score 50 here. Give me the Aztecs in a 20+ point win.
