The UNLV Rebels and the San Diego State Aztecs meet Saturday in college basketball action from Viejas Arena. UNLV is 7-5 overall this year and coming off a win over Bethesda. As for San Diego State, they’re riding a five-game win streak at 12-2 overall following a victory versus Fresno State on Wednesday. Let’s get into our UNLV vs. San Diego State prediction. UNLV Rebels

The Rebels posted a shaky 4-5 run to start the season. The losses in that stretch came versus Southern, Florida State, Richmond, Loyola Marymount and Saint Mary’s. The last three games have been wins for UNLV, though. Those came versus Hofstra, Carroll MT and Bethesda University.

In the Bethesda matchup on Tuesday, the Rebels had very few issues. UNLV stormed out to a 54-28 halftime edge and finished on a 58-28 run for a dominant blowout victory 112-56. Luis Rodriguez was the team’s leading scorer with his 19 points, nine rebounds and two steals.

San Diego State Aztecs

Over on the San Diego State side, they went 7-1 over their first eight outings with wins over CSU Fullerton, Long Beach State, Saint Mary’s, Washington, California, Point Loma Nazarene and UC San Diego. After a loss to Grand Canyon the Aztecs have won five straight, most recently versus Fresno State.

Matched up against Fresno State on Wednesday, the Aztecs bagged a blowout win of their own. San Diego State took a 39-26 edge into the locker room and finished on a 35-21 run for a 74-47 win. Jaedon LeDee managed 21 points as the team’s top scorer, adding two assists and one rebound as well.

ANDREW’S FREE UNLV VS SAN DIEGO STATE PREDICTION

I’m staying with San Diego State. The Aztecs are on a great run right now and playing very well. In their latest win over Fresno State, San Diego State shot 52.6 percent from the field with 39 rebounds and 13 team assists. In each of the last four games, the Aztecs have hit 74 or more points while allowing 60 or fewer points on defense in three of those.

As for UNLV, they’ve hit 74 or more points in three straight games (all wins), but to be fair none of those teams were anywhere close to San Diego State’s caliber. I like the Rebels to follow along for a while here, but the Aztecs should have the cover if they play well.
