The Davidson Wildcats and the San Francisco Dons meet Saturday in college basketball action from War Memorial Gym. Davidson is coming off a 22-point victory over Delaware in their opener. As for San Francisco, they’ve got two wins in the books so far over LIU and Prairie View A&M. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Davidson posted a 13-9 overall record last year with a 7-4 run in A-10 games. That left the Wildcats with a third place finish, but they lost to VCU in the conference tourney. After an invite to the NIT, the Wildcats fell to NC State in the First Round.
Davidson managed a good offensive effort against Delaware in their opener this year, scoring 51 points in the first half not he way to a 93-71 win. The team’s leading scorer was Foster Loyer with 27 points, two rebounds and one assist.
Over on the San Francisco side, they scored 48 points in the first half and 50 in the second during their 98-64 opener victory versus LIU. Leading the way in scoring for the Dons was Khalil Shabazz with 16 points, one rebound and one assist.
Game two went well for the Dons also. San Francisco was again scorching on offense, drilling Prairie View A&M in a 92-76 win. Jamaree Bouyea led the team with 24 points, four rebounds and four assists. Shabazz added 19 points with two assists and one rebound.
San Francisco is 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games and 6-14 ATS in their last 20 overall. The Dons are 9-26-2 ATS in their last 37 Saturday games.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 5-12 ATS in the last 17 as an underdog. The under is 5-1 in Davidson’s last six Saturday games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with San Francisco. The offense has been working overtime for the Dons so far. In the Prairie View A&M game, San Francisco shot an epic 61.1 percent (33-of-54) from the field, making 11 of their 24 3-point attempts. The Dons were solid on the boards (40 rebounds) and added 13 team assists.
Davidson shot 59.3 percent themselves in their opener win, so if the hot offenses continue we could have quite a high-scoring game here. All that said, I like San Francisco to find a way to cover. Should be a fun matchup.
