San Francisco vs St. Mary’s 1/14/23 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Saint Mary’s Gaels and the San Francisco Dons meet Saturday in college basketball action from War Memorial Gym. Saint Mary’s played LMU in their last outing on Thursday. In that one the Gaels took a 14-point win. As for San Francisco, they’re fresh off a Thursday game versus Portland. The Dons ended up losing by five. Saint Mary’s posted a solid 9-3 run through 12 games. The losses came to Washington, New Mexico and Houston in that time. The Gaels went 5-1 over the next six with wins over Wyoming, San Diego, Santa Clara, Portland and Art U. 

Matched up against LMU on Thursday, the Gaels were up 35-21 at the break. Saint Mary’s kept the pace on a 41-41 run from there and won the game 76-62. Aidan Mahaney led the team with his 25 points and three rebounds. 

Over on the San Francisco side, they were also 9-3 through 12 games, taking losses to Davidson, Utah State and New Mexico. The Dons went 3-4 over the next seven with losses to TX-Arlington, Santa Clara, San Diego and Gonzaga. 

In the Portland game on Thursday, the Dons were down 48-38 by halftime. San Francisco made a run on a 49-44 halftime advantage but still lost 92-87. Khalil Shabazz put up 25 points, and Tyrell Roberts added 24 points in the defeat. 

PICK: I’ll probably stay with San Francisco. The Dons have been pretty inconsistent lately but they’re still scoring pretty well. San Francisco has put up 67 or more points in seven straight games, going 3-4 in that time. Saint Mary’s is on a six-game win streak and they’ve scored 76 or more points in four of their last five games. This one’s probably going to be a high-total outcome, but I think the Dons can hang around closely enough to cover if they’re playing well.
