The Colorado State Rams and the San Jose State Spartans meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Event Center Arena. Colorado State comes into this one at 13-16 overall. The Rams beat Wyoming in their last game. As for San Jose State, they’re 17-12 on the season following a win over Boise State on Saturday. Colorado State Rams

The Rams managed to go a rough 10-12 over their first 22 games of the season. Colorado State is 3-4 in the seven outings since, falling to UNLV, Utah State, Boise State and San Diego State with wins over Air Force, Fresno State and Wyoming.

In the Wyoming game on Friday, the Rams put up a 40-30 edge in the first half. Colorado State hit a 44-41 advantage in the second half for an 84-71 victory. John Tonje led the team on 25 points and Isaiah Stevens doubled on 15 points and 12 assists.

San Jose State Spartans

Over on the San Jose State side, they were 13-9 over their first 22 outings of the year. The Spartans are 4-3 since then with wins over Wyoming, Utah State, UNLV and Boise State. The losses came to Fresno State, New Mexico and Nevada otherwise.

Matched up against Boise State on Saturday, the Spartans scored 25 points in the first half, 33 in the second and 16 in overtime for a 74-68 comeback victory. Omari Moore managed 24 points to lead the way and Robert Vaihola doubled up with 15 points and 11 boards.

I’m going to take a stab on San Jose State here. The Spartans are coming off a nice overtime win over a good Boise State team, despite starting off a little slow. San Jose State has now hit 68 or more points in four of their last five games, and they’ll probably need a decent amount of offense to keep Colorado State at bay. The Spartans managed a 78-70 win the last time these teams met up back on New Year’s Eve at Moby Arena. San Jose State closed well in that one with a 45-34 advantage in the second half. This rematch should be pretty competitive as well, and I like the Spartans on a cover.
