Seattle vs Cal Baptist 12/31/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The California Baptist Lancers and the Seattle Redhawks meet Saturday in college basketball action from Connolly Center. California Baptist is fresh off a Thursday matchup versus Grand Canyon. In that one the Lancers lost by 14 points. As for Seattle, they’re 9-4 after a win over George Washington on Christmas. Cal Baptist went 3-3 over their first six games this year, beating NJIT, CSU Northridge and Washington. The Lancers went 5-2 in the next seven with wins over Central Michigan, UC Riverside, Weber State, San Diego and Sonoma State. 

On Thursday versus Grand Canyon, the Lancers trailed 31-27 after one half. California Baptist fell further behind on a 42-32 run and lost 73-59. Joe Quintana led the way on 14 points, and Taran Armstrong added 10 points with five rebounds. 

Over on the Seattle side, they won five straight to start the season then lost to Washington. The Redhawks are 4-3 since then with victories over CSU Fullerton, North Dakota, Alcorn State and George Washington in that time. 

Back on Christmas Day versus George Washington, the Redhawks jumped out to a 41-24 edge by halftime. Seattle cruised from there on 44 more points and won 85-67. Cameron Tyson was the top scorer on 20 points, and Emeka Udenyi doubled on 12 points and 10 boards.

PICK: I’ll probably stick with Seattle in this one. We should have a pretty fun matchup here regardless, though. The Redhawks posted a much-needed win over George Washington in their last outing and looked pretty good doing it. Seattle has hit 72 or more points in three of their last four games and if they get off to a good start in this one I think they’ll be fine cover-wise. Cal Baptist has put up some pretty nice points totals themselves lately, so this will be a high-scoring game if both teams are on point.
