The Creighton Bluejays and the Seton Hall Pirates meet Thursday in Big East Tournament college basketball action from Madison Square Garden in New York. Here’s a Seton Hall vs. Creighton prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Seton Hall vs. Creighton pick.
Creighton Bluejays Betting Preview
The Bluejays were sitting at 12-8 overall back at the 20-game mark in late January. Losses came in the next six games versus Marquette, UConn, Georgetown, DePaul and Villanova, then a win over UConn. Since then it’s been losses to St. John’s, DePaul and Providence ahead of a victory over Butler. Over 31 games so far this season, which gives the Blue Jays a 15-16 record in the books.
In the Butler game last Wednesday, the Bluejays were facing a four-point deficit, 36-32, as they came back out onto the floor in the second half following the break. Creighton woke up from there on a 44-23 run and finished off a big victory 76-59 in the end. Leading the team in scoring was Josh Dix with 22 points, three rebounds and two steals. Nik Graves added 14 points with 13 assists, six steals and two rebounds in 36 minutes of work.
Seton Hall Pirates Betting Preview
Over on the Seton Hall side, they were sitting at 14-6 at the 20-game mark this season. The Pirates won four of the next six outings over Xavier, Marquette, Providence and Butler (with losses to Villanova and Creighton), then hit a 2-3 run over the next five with losses to DePaul, UConn and St. John’s among wins versus Georgetown and Xavier for a 20-11 record so far.
In the St. John’s matchup last week, the Pirates were sitting in the locker room at halftime with a 30-27 deficit. Seton Hall didn’t end up getting any closer than that on a 42-38 run and eventually took the loss 72-65 as the game came to an end. Adam Clark was the leading team scorer with his 15 points, three assists and one steal in 30 minutes of work during the defeat.

Seton Hall vs Creighton Prediction
I’ll take a stab on Seton Hall but it’s a coin flip. The Pirates couldn’t keep pace with a good St. John’s team in their latest home loss, thanks mostly to 41.1 percent shooting from the field and 9.1 percent (1-of-11) from outside. Seton Hall was competitive in the paint, 38-38; however, they had a 31-27 rebounding advantage. The 50 percent shooting allowed on defense didn’t help matters though. That gives the Pirates a sketchy 2-3 run in the last five outings.
These teams split the season series, with the home team winning each time. Seton Hall got one 56-54 on January 4, then Creighton returned the favor 69-68 in the rematch on February 7. In that road loss, the Pirates shot very well (50 percent) but only took nine 3-pointers (making five for 55.6 percent) and had 9 of 14 (64.3 percent) at the line. The 13 turnovers didn’t help, nor did the Jays’ 13 makes from 3-point range (of 30 for 43.3 percent). This tournament matchup could play out a lot of different ways but should be a close game regardless.
