Seton Hall vs DePaul Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/5/23

The DePaul Blue Demons and the Seton Hall Pirates meet Sunday in college basketball action from Prudential Center. DePaul is 9-14 on the year following a loss to UConn on Tuesday. DePaul Blue Demons

DePaul managed to beat Loyola MD, Western Illinois, Minnesota, Samford, Loyola IL, UTEP and Georgetown in their first 16 games. The Demons are 2-5 since then however with wins over only Villanova and Xavier. 

In the UConn game on Tuesday, the Blue Demons were down 46-33 going into the break. DePaul didn’t get any closer on a 44-43 deficit from there and lost 90-76. Javan Johnson led the team on 19 points and three rebounds. 

Seton Hall Pirates 

Over on the Seton Hall side, they managed a pretty sketchy 8-8 run through 16 games. Over the past seven outings the Pirates are looking better at 6-1 however; they’ve beaten Butler, Georgetown, DePaul, UConn, Butler again and St. John’s in that time. 

Matched up against St. John’s on Wednesday, the Pirates were down 35-32 in the locker room. Seton Hall stormed back on a 52-37 run from there and won it 84-72. Al-Amir Dawes scored 21 points and Kadary Richmond doubled on 15 points and 13 rebounds. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’m going to stick with Seton Hall. The Pirates are looking pretty darn good lately with just the one loss in their last seven games. Seton Hall has scored 66 or more points in each of those wins, including a 71-67 victory over DePaul on January 14 at Wintrust Arena. Both teams shot pretty well in that one, but the Pirates managed a 37-27 rebounding edge (15-7 offensive) that put them over the top. As for DePaul, they’re on a four-game losing streak but not scoring too badly in that stretch. I like a fairly high total here with Seton Hall ultimately powering out a cover.
