Xavier Musketeers
Xavier hit a 16-4 run over their first 20 games this year. The Musketeers are a shaky 4-4 since then with wins over UConn, Providence, St. John’s and DePaul alongside losses to Creighton, Butler, Marquette and Villanova.
On Tuesday versus Villanova, the Musketeers were up 36-30 by halftime. Xavier was outscored 34-27 from there and ended up losing a tough one 64-63. Leading scorer Souley Boum put up 17 points and Jack Nunge doubled on 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Seton Hall Pirates
Over on the Seton Hall side, they were standing at 12-8 at the 20-game mark this year. The Pirates are 4-4 in their last eight as well with wins over Butler, St. John’s, DePaul and Georgetown alongside losses to Marquette, Creighton, Villanova and UConn.
Matched up against UConn on Saturday, the Pirates went into halftime down 33-27. Seton Hall didn’t end up getting any closer on a 31-28 run and lost 64-55. Tyrese Samuel and Al-Amir Dawes led the team with 16 points each.

I’ll probably go with Xavier in this one. It’s essentially a coin-flip proposition, though. Should be a fun game. The Musketeers are coming off a rough loss and need a good bounce-back here. Xavier shot a pretty solid 45.1 percent with 34 rebounds in the Villanova game, however they also coughed up 14 turnovers to the Wildcats’ seven. Xavier is now just 1-3 in the last four games and weren’t very convincing the last time they played Seton Hall on December 20 at Cintas Center. That one ended up a 73-70 Musketeers win. Xavier has to have a decisive performance in the rematch, and I think they’ll get it.
