The Howard Bison and the South Carolina State Bulldogs meet Monday in college basketball action from SHM Memorial Center. Howard is fresh off a Saturday matchup versus NC Central. In that one the Bison lost by eight points. As for South Carolina State, they played Norfolk State in their Saturday game. The Bulldogs ended up falling by 12 points. Howard Bison
Howard posted a .500 run over their first 20 games this year, hitting a 10-10 stretch to start things off. The Bison then beat Morgan State, Coppin State, NC Central, South Carolina State, Delaware State, MD Eastern Shore and Coppin State again before a loss to Morgan State.
On Saturday versus NC Central, the Bison were outscored 41-29 in the first half. Howard hit a 31-27 advantage from there in an eventual 68-60 loss. Shy Odom posted 15 points with seven rebounds and Elijah Hawkins added 11 points of his own.
SC State Bulldogs
Over on the South Carolina State side, they limped to a rough 3-17 record through their first 20 games this year. The Bulldogs went 2-5 in the next seven outings with losses to Delaware State, Norfolk State, Howard, MD Eastern Shore and Delaware State again.
Matched up against Norfolk State on Saturday, the Bulldogs were down 41-29 going into the second half. South Carolina State kept the pace from there but still lost 88-76. Cam Jones led the team on 15 points and six rebounds.

I’ll probably stick with Howard. Granted, there’s not a lot to get excited about in this one but it should be reasonably competitive. The Bison managed a 100-74 win the last time these teams met back on January 30 at Burr Gymnasium. Howard was up 46-35 by halftime in that one and cruised the rest of the way. The Bison have been scoring reasonably well lately with 71 or more points in 13 of their last 14 games. I like Howard to get back to form in this rematch and take a road cover.
