South Carolina State vs UNC Asheville 12/13/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The UNC Asheville Bulldogs and the South Carolina State Bulldogs meet Tuesday in college basketball action from SHM Memorial Center. UNC Asheville is 6-4 overall this year. The Bulldogs lost to Dayton in their last game. As for South Carolina State, they’re 1-10 following a loss to USC Upstate on Saturday. UNC Asheville hit a 4-2 run in their first six games, beating UCF, Brevard, Texas A&M-Commerce and Western Carolina. The next four games were a 2-2 run with victories over TN-Martin and Warren Wilson College. 

On Saturday versus Dayton, UNC Asheville had a tough outing. The Bulldogs were down 34-19 by halftime and ended up losing 79-56. Leading scorer Drew Pember posted 16 points with eight rebounds. 

Over on the South Carolina State side, their only win was over East Carolina. Otherwise it’s been losses to South Carolina, Tennessee State, Duquesne, Kentucky, North Florida, Wake Forest, Western Kentucky, Furman, Winthrop and USC Upstate. 

Matched up against USC Upstate on Saturday, SC State lost a 38-32 lead and eventually went to overtime in an 89-84 loss. Leading team scorer Davion Everett put up a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds in 38 minutes of work. 

PICK: I’ll probably stick with UNC Asheville. That said there’s not a ton of intrigue involved here. UNC Asheville is coming off a rough performance in the loss to Dayton, but generally they’ve scored well. In nine of their 10 games so far this season, UNC Asheville has hit 66 or more points and the team should be able to post a nice total here as well. As for South Carolina State, they’re coming off a tough loss themselves. SC State can probably keep the pace here if they play well but I don’t think they’ll ultimately cover.
