Kentucky hasn’t yet lost consecutive games this year, so they’ve rebounded from adversity very well. The Wildcats last lost to Auburn on January 22. Since then it’s been a win streak over Mississippi State, Kansas, Vanderbilt and Alabama.
In the Alabama matchup, the Wildcats posted a 33-27 edge in the first half and a 33-28 run from there in a 66-55 win. TyTy Washington led the scoring on 15 points with three rebounds. Oscar Tshiebwe doubled up on 10 points and 15 boards.
Over on the South Carolina side, they were sitting at 10-4 in early January. It’s been a 3-5 stretch in the last eight games, though. The losses in that time have come to Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, Mississippi State and Tennessee.
Matched up against Tennessee on Saturday, the Gamecocks posted 29 points in the first half and 28 in the second in a rough 81-57 blowout loss. Devin Carter posted 13 points with five rebounds, and Erik Stevenson put up 13 points with four boards.
The Gamecocks are 0-4 ATS in their last four Tuesday games and the over is 4-1 in their last five overall. South Carolina is 1-5 ATS in their last six as an underdog.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 road games and 4-14 ATS in their last 18 after an ATS win. Kentucky is 1-10 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games.
PICK: I’m probably staying with Kentucky here. The Wildcats managed a steady showing in their last matchup versus Alabama, shooting 40 percent with 44 rebounds and 13 team assists. Kentucky has posted 71 or more points in four of their last five games, and should find plenty of opportunities for offense in this one. I like South Carolina to post a decent total here as well, but I think Kentucky has the edge on a cover.
