South Dakota State vs UMKC Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/23/23

The UMKC Roos and the South Dakota State Jackrabbits meet Thursday in college basketball action from Frost Arena. UMKC is 11-18 overall this season. The Roos lost to North Dakota on Saturday in their last game. As for South Dakota State, they’re sitting at 17-11 following a Saturday loss to Omaha. UMKC Roos 

UMKC managed an 8-13 record over their first 21 games. The Roos have since gone a rough 3-5 however, falling to South Dakota State, Oral Roberts, St. Thomas MN, North Dakota State and North Dakota in that time. 

In the North Dakota matchup back on Saturday, the Roos took a 35-27 deficit into the second half. UMKC kept the pace with 46 more points but ended up losing 81-73. RayQuawndis Mitchell was the top team scorer on 20 points. 

South Dakota State Jackrabbits

Over on the South Dakota State side, they put up an 11-9 record over their first 20 games. Over the last eight, the Jackrabbits are 6-2 with wins over UMKC, North Dakota, North Dakota State, South Dakota, Denver and Omaha. 

Matched up against Omaha over the weekend, the Jackrabbits were up 46-33 by the break. South Dakota State cruised on a 45-37 run from there and won 91-70. Matt Dentlinger managed 26 points with seven rebounds in the victory.

I’m staying with South Dakota State. The Jackrabbits are on a nice six-game win streak right now with 67 or more points scored in each of those outings. South Dakota State took a 67-66 road win at Swinney Recreation Center the last time these teams met up back on January 30 as well. UMKC has lost three straight and five of their last six games. The Roos have 66 points or fewer in four of their last six as well, so I don’t think they’ll be able to keep up with the Jackrabbits at home in the rematch.
