South Dakota vs Nebraska-Omaha Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/21/23

The Omaha Mavericks and the South Dakota Coyotes meet Saturday in college basketball action from Sanford Coyote Sports Center. Omaha is fresh off a Thursday matchup versus South Dakota State. In that one the Mavericks fell in a blowout. As for South Dakota, they played Denver in their Thursday game. The Coyotes ended up losing by 15 points. Omaha Mavericks 

Omaha was 5-9 through 14 games this year, beating Idaho, LA-Monroe, Southern U, Midland and Denver in that time. The Mavericks hit a 2-3 run in the next five with losses to UMKC, St. Thomas MN and North Dakota State. 

In the South Dakota State game on Thursday, Omaha trailed 41-26 at halftime. The Mavericks were outscored 43-35 from there and lost 84-61. Frankie Fidler put up 13 points with eight rebounds and four assists as the high team scorer.

South Dakota Coyotes  

Over on the South Dakota side, they were 6-8 through 14 games with wins over Lipscomb, Dakota State, LIU, Mount Marty, BYU and St. Thomas MN. The Coyotes went 2-2 in the next four with losses to North Dakota State and South Dakota State. 

Matched up against Denver on Thursday, the Coyotes were down by just one point at the break. South Dakota was outscored 44-30 in the second half and lost 75-60. Mason Archambault led the team on 14 points. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably lean South Dakota here. Also probably not touching it. The Coyotes are just 1-3 in their last four games, scoring 64 points or fewer in each outing. Omaha hasn’t been doing so great lately themselves. The Mavericks are 1-3 in their last four as well, and they’ve failed to hit 70 points in any of those games. South Dakota needs to get off to a fast start here, but if they play well I can see the Coyotes eking out a cover. It should be a competitive game.
