The North Dakota Fighting Hawks and the South Dakota Coyotes meet in college basketball action from the Sanford Coyote Sports Center on Saturday.
The North Dakota Fighting Hawks will try to snap a nine-game losing skid after a 96-61 loss at South Dakota State last time out. Paul Bruns leads the Hawks in scoring with 13.7 PPG along with 5.1 RPG while Caleb Nero has 10.8 PPG with 3.5 RPG in 12 games as the only other double-digit scorer for North Dakota so far this season. Mitchell Sueker has 9.9 PPG with 3.8 RPG and Matt Norman has 9.3 PPG while Tsotne Tsartsidze also has 8 PPG with a team-high 5.7 RPG as well this season. As a team, North Dakota is averaging 70.2 PPG on 40.6% shooting from the field, 32.1% from three and 73.7% from the foul line while allowing 79.4 PPG on 49.1% shooting from the field and 38% from three this season.
The South Dakota Coyotes will be out to bounce back from a 74-62 OT loss to North Dakota State last time out. Kruz Perrott-Hunt leads the Coyotes in scoring and assists with 15.2 PPG and 2.3 APG while Mason Archambault has 14.5 PPG with 3.9 RPG and 2 APG and Xavier Fuller has 12.8 PPG with 4.8 RPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for South Dakota up to this point in the year. Hunter Goodrick has a team-high 8.1 RPG to lead the Coyotes on the glass this season. As a team, South Dakota is averaging 74.1 PPG on 45.2% shooting from the field, 34.7% from three and 73.2% from the foul line while allowing 70.1 PPG on 44.8% shooting from the field and 38.2% from three this season.
North Dakota is 16-35 ATS in their last 51 road games and 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games overall while the over is 9-2 in their last 11 Saturday games. South Dakota is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games following a double-digit loss at home while the over is 13-3 in their last 16 games as a favorite.
You could make a case for North Dakota and the points considering it’s a rivalry game and the Hawks looked capable before getting blown out by South Dakota State. With that said, that doesn’t change the fact that the Hawks are 0-12 SU and just 3-9 ATS on the road this season. South Dakota isn’t pretty but they’re effective, especially against lesser teams in the Summit League. Give me the Coyotes laying the points here.
