The South Dakota State Jackrabbits will travel to the Sanford Coyote Sports Center to take on the South Dakota Coyotes this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The South Dakota State Jackrabbits won their 11th straight game and improved to 20-4 on the season after defeating the North Dakota Fighting Hawks, 70-64, this past Monday. South Dakota State had more trouble than expected against North Dakota, however, the Jackrabbits were able to pull away in the 2nd half after taking a 67-59 lead with 2:23 left in regulation. South Dakota State shot 44.3% from the field & 27.8% from beyond the arc while holding North Dakota to 4.4% shooting from the field & 23.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Jackrabbits was Baylor Scheierman who had 24 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 block, & 1 steal.

On the season, South Dakota State is averaging 86.9 ppg on 51.8% shooting from the field. The Jackrabbits are averaging 9.7 three-pointers per game on 44.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, South Dakota State has been led by Noah Freidel (18.0 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 1.4 apg), Baylor Scheierman (15.5 ppg, 8.5 rpg, 4.2 apg, 1.5 spg), Douglas Wilson (14.6 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 1.3 apg), & Zeke Mayo (9.8 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.3 apg). Noah Freidel hasn’t played for over a month and although he is not injured and still practicing, there is no word yet if he is going to see game action against this season.

Defensively, South Dakota State is allowing their opponents to average 74.3 ppg on 43.8% shooting from the field. The Jackrabbits have a rebound margin of 4.7 and a turnover margin of 0.2.

The South Dakota Coyotes improved to 13-8 on the season after defeating the North Dakota Fighting Hawks, 71-58, this past Saturday. South Dakota dominated North Dakota on both ends of the court in the 1st half and had no trouble securing the victory after going into halftime with a 39-18 lead. South Dakota shot 50.0% from the field & 34.8% from beyond the arc while holding North Dakota to 37.0% shooting from the field & 29.4% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Coyotes was Tasos Kamateros who had a double-double with 21 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, & 2 steals.

On the season, South Dakota is averaging 74.0 ppg on 45.4% shooting from the field. The Coyotes are averaging 6.8 three-pointers per game on 34.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, South Dakota has been led by Kruz Perrott-Hunt (15.0 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.3 apg), Mason Archambault (14.4 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.3 spg), Tasos Kamateros (10.0 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.7 apg), & Hunter Goodricke (7.0 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.8 apg).

Defensively, South Dakota is allowing their opponents to average 69.5 ppg on 44.5% shooting from the field. The Coyotes have a rebound margin of 4.8 and a turnover margin of 1.5.

The Jackrabbits are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 & 36-15-1 ATS in their last 53 games following a ATS loss. The Coyotes are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games, however, are just 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games as an underdog.

South Dakota State, even without Noah Freidel, haven’t missed a beat on the offensive end as they come into this game ranked 2nd in scoring offense, however, it’s a bit concerning to see the Jackrabbits have so much trouble on the road against an inferior North Dakota team. South Dakota has a decent offense that should be able to put up some solid points against a below average South Dakota State defense and as the Coyotes are 9-3 at home this season, I think South Dakota State does enough with the points to get us a cover. Good Luck!
