The Kansas City Roos will travel to the Sanford Coyote Sports Center to take on the South Dakota Coyotes this Wednesday night in College Basketball action.

The Kansas City Roos lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 5-6 on the season after being defeated by the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, 89-57, this past Wednesday. Kansas City struggled on both ends of the court and South Dakota State and could not fight back after going into halftime trailing by a 42-22 margin. Kansas City shot 32.8% from the field & 25.9% from beyond the arc while allowing South Dakota State to shoot 57.4% from the field & 42.9% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Roos was Timothy Barnes who had 11 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist, & 2 steals in 18 minutes from off the bench.

On the season, Kansas City is averaging 68.5 ppg on 45.9% shooting from the field. The Roos are averaging 7.5 three-pointers per game on 35.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Kansas City has been led by Josiah Allick (11.7 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.4 apg), Evan Gilyard II (11.1 ppg, 1.7 rpg, 2.2 apg, 1.2 spg), Anderson Kopp (10.1 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.5 apg), & Marvin Nesbitt Jr. (8.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.2 spg).

Defensively, Kansas City is holding their opponents to an average of 62.9 ppg on 42.6% shooting from the field. The Roos have a rebound margin of -0.1 and a turnover margin of 2.6.

The South Dakota Coyotes had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 7-5 on the season after being defeated by the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles, 82-73, this past Monday night. South Dakota had no answers for the Golden Eagles Max Abmas who had 32 points against the Coyotes and could not fight back after Oral Roberts took a 79-70 lead with 3:28 left in regulation. South Dakota shot 44.6% from the field & 22.2% from beyond the arc while Oral Roberts shot 53.4% from the field & 42.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Coyotes was Tasos Kamateros who had 20 points, 7 rebounds, & 2 assists.

On the season, South Dakota is averaging 72.8 ppg on 44.5% shooting from the field. The Coyotes are averaging 6.7 three-pointers per game on 33.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, South Dakota has been led by Kruz Perrott-Hunt (14.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.3 apg), Xavier Fuller (13.3 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.0 apg), Mason Archambault (12.1 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.7 spg), & Tasos Kamateros (8.9 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.1 apg).

Defensively, South Dakota is allowing their opponents to average 68.0 ppg on 44.0% shooting from the field. The Coyotes have a rebound margin of 5.0 and a turnover margin of 1.9.

The Roos are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games, however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Coyotes are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games & 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall.

Kansas City has been led by their defense which comes into this game ranked 71st in scoring defense & 77th in turnover margin, however, points at times have been tough come by for the Roos as they currently rank just 255th in scoring offense. South Dakota has been balanced, but not overly impressive on either end of the court this season as the Coyotes come into this game ranked just 164th in scoring offense & t-172nd in scoring defense.

South Dakota might have the better record, however, I’m not impressed with the wins that the Coyotes have picked up this season and I think their offense is going to struggle a bit against a Kansas City Roos defense that is much better than what we saw recently against South Dakota State. Kansas City should have some success against a South Dakota defense that ranks just 253rd in defensive FG% and I think the play here is to take Kansas City and the points. Good Luck!
