South Dakota vs UMKC Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/25/23

The UMKC Roos and the South Dakota Coyotes meet Saturday in college basketball action from Sanford Coyote Sports Center. UMKC played South Dakota State in their last game. The Roos ended up falling in blowout fashion. As for South Dakota, they’re fresh off a Thursday matchup versus Oral Roberts. In that one the Coyotes lost by 12 points. UMKC Roos

UMKC ended up with an 8-13 record over their first 22 games of the season. The Roos posted a 3-5 run over the next eight outings, losing to South Dakota State, Oral Roberts, St. Thomas MN, North Dakota State and North Dakota. 

On Thursday versus South Dakota State, the Roos went into the second half down 34-23. UMKC didn’t get any closer on a 39-27 stretch from there and lost 73-50. RayQuawndis Mitchell led the team with his 13 points and three rebounds.

South Dakota Coyotes 

Over on the South Dakota side, they hit a 9-12 run in their first 21 outings. The Coyotes managed a rough 2-5 record over the next seven games. The losses in that time were to Oral Roberts, North Dakota, South Dakota State, Omaha and Denver. 

Matched up against Oral Roberts on Thursday, the Coyotes took a 39-29 deficit into the locker room. South Dakota was outscored 43-41 in the second and lost 82-70. Tasos Kamateros was the team’s top scorer on 20 points and nine rebounds.

I’ll probably stick with South Dakota in this one. The Coyotes are on a rough five-game losing streak, however they haven’t been getting blown out during that time. South Dakota wasn’t able to do much the last time these teams met up back on December 19 at Swinney Recreation Center. The Coyotes lost that one 62-45 and weren’t close in either half. I like South Dakota to play better at home in this one and power out a cover. Probably not touching it, though.
