In this article we will formulate a South Florida vs North Texas prediction for this College Basketball game on Sunday, February 23rd at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida. Let’s take a look at the prediction for this College Basketball matchup.

South Florida Bulls Betting Preview

The South Florida Bulls are 13-14 (6-8) this season after they defeated UTSA by a score of 78-73 in their last game. South Florida trailed 40-29 at halftime, but they did score 49 points in the second half in the win. The Bulls shot 45.6% from the field, 28.6% on three pointers, and 66.7% on free throws in the game. Jimmie Williams led South Florida with 16 points and three rebounds, while Jamille Reynolds added 13 points and six rebounds in the win.

Prior to that victory, the Bulls lost to UAB by a score of 85-78 and Memphis by a score of 80-65. South Florida has lost three of their last four games and they are currently tied for eighth in the AAC standings with a 6-8 record. South Florida has scored 76.1 points per game and they have allowed 74.9 points against per game, while also averaging 34.6 rebounds and 15.0 assists per game this season. Jamille Reynolds is averaging 13.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game, while Jayden Reid is averaging 12.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game this year. South Florida is shooting 45.4% from the field, 72.6% on free throws, and 32.9% on three pointers this season.

North Texas Mean Green Betting Preview

The North Texas Mean Green are 19-6 (10-3) this year after they defeated Tulsa by a score of 63-44 in their last game. North Texas led 30-19 at halftime and they held Tulsa to just 25 points in the second half for the win. The Mean Green shot 41.5% from the field, 20% on three pointers, and 71.4% on free throws in the game. Moulaye Sissoko led North Texas with 27 points and 11 rebounds, while Atin Wright added 15 points and five rebounds in the game.

Prior to that win, the Mean Green defeated Rice by a score of 67-61 and Tulane by a score of 76-66. North Texas has won nine of their last eleven games and they are currently second in the AAC standings with a 10-3 record. North Texas has scored 68.3 points per game and they have allowed 58.8 points against per game, while also averaging 33.3 rebounds and 10.4 assists per game this season. Atin Wright is averaging 13.8 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game, while Brenen Lorient is averaging 12.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game this year. North Texas is shooting 45.2% from the field, 76.5% on free throws, and 35.9% on three pointers this season.

Why North Texas will beat South Florida

  • North Texas has won seven of its last eight games following a home win.
  • South Florida has lost each of its last four day games.
  • South Florida has lost the first half in nine of its last 11 games against the American Athletic Conference.

South Florida vs North Texas Prediction

North Texas comes into this matchup looking for their fourth win in a row, but they will be on the road for this game. The Mean Green have another great defensive team this year and they have allowed 66 points or fewer in five straight games. South Florida has lost three of their last four games and they are allowing nearly 74.9 points against per game this year. The Bulls have allowed 75+ points in four of their last five games and I just don’t see their offense being able to keep against this very tough North Texas defense. We will probably see a close game in the first half, but I like North Texas to pull away in the second half for the cover.
