South Florida vs SMU Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/25/23

The SMU Mustangs and the South Florida Bulls meet Saturday in college basketball action from USF Sun Dome. SMU is currently 10-18 on the year. The Mustangs beat East Carolina on Sunday. SMU Mustangs

SMU managed a pretty rough 7-13 record by the 20-game mark this year. The Mustangs are just 3-5 since then. The losses in that time have come versus Memphis, Tulane, East Carolina, Wichita State and Houston. 

In the East Carolina rematch back on Sunday, the Mustangs logged a 35-28 halftime lead. SMU kept it going with a 51-42 second and took the win 86-70. Leading the way was Samuell Williamson with 20 points and nine rebounds. Zhuric Phelps doubled on 15 points and 10 assists as well. 

South Florida Bulls

Over on the South Florida side, they managed an up-and-down 9-11 record in their first 20 outings. The Bulls have since gone 3-5 as well, taking losses to Temple, SMU, Memphis, Cincinnati and Tulane along the way. 

Back on Wednesday versus UCF, South Florida went into the second half with a 48-40 edge. The Bulls were outscored 35-34 from there but held on for the win 82-75. both Ryan Conwell and Selton Miguel scored 14 points apiece.

I’m going to stick with South Florida. You could probably make a case either way, though. The Bulls are coming off a nice win over UCF, and they’re a reasonable 3-3 in their last six outings. South Florida is scoring well these days with 65 or more points in 13 straight games. The Bulls lost a close matchup the last time these teams met up back on January 29 at SMU Moody Coliseum. that one was an 82-80 affair with a 45-33 SMU advantage in the first half. I like the Bulls to pull off the cover here for some revenge.
