Southern Illinois-Edwardsville vs TN-Martin Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/2/23

TN-Martin Skyhawks 

Tennessee-Martin lost to Youngstown State, Pittsburgh, Ole Miss, Arkansas State, UNC Asheville and Little Rock over their first 16 games. The Skyhawks are 5-2 in their last seven, losing to only Tennessee Tech and Southern Indiana in that time. 

On Saturday in the rematch versus Southern Indiana, the Skyhawks scored 28 points in the first half, 46 in the second and 12 in overtime during an 86-83 victory. Jordan Sears scored 32 and KJ Simon doubled on 21 points and 12 rebounds in the win. 

SIU Edwardsville Cougars 

Over on the SIU Edwardsville side, they lost to Fort Wayne, Missouri, Bradley, Illinois State and SEMO in their first 16 outings. The Cougars have since gone 3-4 with wins over Southern Indiana, Eastern Illinois and Lindenwood. 

On Saturday versus Morehead State, the Cougars took a three-point edge into the locker room. SIU Edwardsville was outscored 35-27 from there and lost 55-50. Shamar Wright was the lead team scorer on 14 points.

I’ll probably stick with TN-Martin here. The Skyhawks are on a nice 5-1 run right now, and they’ve scored 66 or more points in eight straight games. TN-Martin has given up 78 or more on the other side in two of their last three however, so SIU Edwardsville should have plenty of scoring opportunities in this one. I like a fairly high total and a close game here, with TN-Martin ultimately sticking out the cover.
