Indiana State posted a spotty 4-6 run over their first 10 games. The Sycamores got better from there though, hitting a win streak over Alabama A&M, Oakland City, Midway and Bradley. The last two games have been losses to Northern Iowa and Loyola, however.
In the Loyola-Chicago matchup back on Saturday, Indiana State held a 33-30 halftime lead. The Sycamores were outscored 34-23 from there in a 64-56 loss. The only double-digit scorer was Cameron Henry with 12 points and two boards.
Over on the Southern Illinois side, they went 9-5 to start the year. The losses were to Little Rock, Northeastern, Creighton, Tulsa and San Francisco. It’s been a losing streak to Missouri State, Northern Iowa and Drake over the last three games.
In the Drake matchup on Monday, the Salukis scored just 27 points in the first half. Southern Illinois posted a 32-25 advantage from there but couldn’t seal the deal in a 60-59 loss. Marcus Domask led the team on 15 points and two rebounds.
The Salukis are 4-1 ATS in their last five at home and 4-0 ATS in their last four overall. The under is 19-7 in Southern Illinois’ last 26 overall.
Meanwhile, Indiana State is 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 road games and 4-1 ATS in the last five Wednesday games. The Sycamores are 18-7-2 ATS in the last 27 overall.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Indiana State. Probably not touching this one, though. Sure, the Sycamores have lost their last two games but they’ve also been scoring pretty well lately. Indiana State has hit 74 or more points in four of their last five, so they can certainly put up the points when they’re so motivated. Southern Illinois has been below 70 points in three of their last four, so they’ll want to get things moving early here. I like this one to be fairly competitive, with Indiana State powering out a cover.
