The Bears beat Evansville in their last game. As for Southern Illinois, they’re 11-11 on the season and coming off a win over Valparaiso. Missouri State has remained pretty consistent overall this season. They’ve lost consecutive games just once so far. In the last six, the Bears are 5-1 with wins over Southern Illinois, Valparaiso, Illinois state, Loyola and Evansville.
Matched up against the Aces on Saturday, the Bears posted a 28-21 edge in the first half and a 44-37 run in the second for a 72-58 win. Gaige Prim was the top scorer with 23 points, and Donovan Clay doubled with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Over on the Southern Illinois side, they were sitting at 9-5 early last month but things haven’t gone so smoothly since then. The Salukis are just 2-6 in their last eight games. The only wins over that time have come to Indiana State and Valparaiso.
In the Valparaiso game on Sunday, the Salukis jumped out to a 43-28 lead in the first half. Southern Illinois scored 34 more points on the way to a 77-55 victory. Lance Jones was the high man on the team with 22 points and seven assists.
The Salukis are 5-0 ATS in their last five at home and 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine overall. Southern Illinois is 5-1 ATS in the last six after an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Bears are 20-7-2 ATS in their last 29 road games and 11-4 ATS in their last five Wednesday games. Missouri State is 13-3-2 ATS in the last 18 as a road favorite.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Missouri State. The Bears offense is working well these days. They’ve hit 71 or more points in each of the last eight games, going 6-2 in that time. These teams met up back on January 12 in a Missouri State home game. The Bears weren’t especially dominant in that one but still came away with an 81-76 victory. This one’s probably going to finish as a similar total, and I like Missouri State to power out a cover to keep their run going.
