The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and the St. Bonaventure Bonnies meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Reilly Center. Middle Tennessee is currently 5-2 overall and coming off a close win versus Montana State. As for St. Bonaventure, they’re 4-2 after a win versus Notre Dame on Friday. Middle Tennessee posted a 2-2 run over their first quartet, beating Brescia and Rice while otherwise falling to Winthrop and Missouri State. The Blue Raiders won the next pair over Hofstra and Stephen F. Austin.

In Tuesday’s matchup versus Montana State, the Raiders had a slim one-point lead by the break. Middle Tennessee kept the pace from there and won 72-71. Jestin Porter topped the team on 16 points in 26 minutes.

Over on the St. Bonaventure side, they beat St. Francis PA in their opener then fell to Canisius and South Dakota State. The Bonnies hit a win streak after that, taking out Bowling Green, Southern Indiana and Notre Dame in the next three.

Back on Friday versus Notre Dame, St. Bonaventure jumped out to a 31-20 halftime lead. The Bonnies scored 32 points in the second half during a 63-51 win. Both Chad Venning (14 points; 11 boards) and Yann Farell (11 points; 14 rebounds) notched double-doubles.

PICK: I might try St. Bonaventure here. The Bonnies are coming off a gritty win over Notre Dame. St. Bonaventure shot 40.7 percent from the field and went 10-of-24 (41.7 percent) from 3-point range. The Bonnies also hit 9-of-10 from the line and collected 38 rebounds in a pretty nice overall effort.

As for Middle Tennessee, they had a pretty sloppy game against Montana State their last time out. There were 40 combined turnovers and just 43 rebounds to be had, but the Raiders got the win all the same. If both teams are on point, this should be a very good matchup. I’m leaning toward St. Bonaventure cover-wise, though.
