The Saint Louis Billikens will travel to the Reilly Center to take on the St. Bonaventure Bonnies this Monday night in College Basketball action.
The Saint Louis Billikens (17-7) will look to avoid losing two straight to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (14-7) after Saint Louis was defeated by St. Bonaventure by a 68-61 margin this past Friday night. Saint Louis struggled with turnovers against St. Bonaventure and could not fight back after the Bonnies took a 59-52 lead with 2:56 left in regulation. Saint Louis shot 42.1% from the field & 28.6% from beyond the arc while allowing St. Bonaventure to shoot 50.0% from the field & 23.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Billikens was Yuri Collins who had 18 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists, & 2 steals while the Bonnies was led by Kyle Lofton who had 16 points, 2 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 block, & 4 steals.
On the season, Saint Louis is averaging 78.6 ppg on 45.6% shooting from the field. The Billikens are averaging 6.8 three-pointers per game on 36.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Saint Louis has been led by Gibson Jimerson (16.8 ppg, 2.3 rpg), Yuri Collins (11.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 8.4 apg, 2.3 spg), Francis Okoro (10.4 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 1.4 bpg), & Jordan Nesbitt (8.9 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.2 apg).
Defensively, Saint Louis is allowing their opponents to average 67.1 ppg on 41.2% shooting from the field. The Billikens have a rebound margin of 7.0 and a turnover margin of 0.8.
On the season, St. Bonaventure is allowing their opponents to average 70.5 ppg on 44.6% shooting from the field. The Bonnies are averaging 6.0 three-pointers per game on 32.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, St. Bonaventure has been led by Jalen Adaway (15.4 ppg, 6.6 rpg), Jaren Holmes (14.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 3.8 apg, 1.0 spg), Kyle Lofton (14.2 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 5.4 apg, 2.0 spg), Dominick Welch (11.4 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.1 spg), & Osun Osunniyi (10.3 ppg, 7.8 rpg, 1.6 apg).
Defensively, St. Bonaventure is allowing their opponents to average 67.4 ppg on 41.9% shooting from the field. The Bonnies have a rebound margin of 1.8 and a turnover margin of 1.2.
The Billikens are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss, however, are just 1-8 ATS in their last 9 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Bonnies are 4-12 ATS in their last 16 games overall & 2-7 ATS in their last 9 home games.
Saint Louis has been sold on both ends of the court as the Billikens come into this game ranked 28th in scoring offense, 91st in FG%, & 79th in defensive FG%. St. Bonaventure has been led by their defense which ranks 130th in scoring defensive & 120th in defensive FG%, however, the offense has struggled a bit as the Bonnies rank only 190th in scoring offense.
This is a solid matchup of two of the best teams in the A-10, however, I think it’s hard not to back St. Bonaventure after watching last Friday’s game in which the defense was able to give Saint Louis a bunch of trouble on their home court. St. Bonaventure lacks depth, however, they have one of the more talented starting fives in College Basketball and as the Bonnies are 8-2 at home this season, I think the play here is to take St. Bonaventure to cover this small spread. Good Luck!
