The Siena Saints and the St. Bonaventure Bonnies meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Reilly Center. Siena posted a solid 12-5 record last year, taking the regular season co-championship in the MAAC. As for St. Bonaventure, they rolled through the Atlantic-10 and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament. Siena finished at 12-5 overall during the 2020-21 season, nothing a 12-4 MAAC record along the way. The Saints finished tied with Monmouth as regular-season conference champions, winning five of their final six games along the way.

Siena wasn’t able to keep their winning ways going in the MACC Tournament and suffered an early exit. The Saints lost to Iona 55-52 in the Quarterfinals on March 10, ending their season on a down note.

Over on the St. Bonaventure side, they found quite a bit of success last season with a 16-5 overall record and an 11-4 mark in Atlantic-10 play. That result left the Bonnies with a regular-season championship ahead of VCU at 10-4.

St. Bonaventure didn’t have much trouble in the A-10 Tournament, taking out Duquesne, Saint Louis and VCU on the way to the championship. The Bonnies earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament, but unfortunately fell 76-61 to LSU in the First Round.

The Saints are 7-1 ATS in their last eight Tuesday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. Siena is 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven overall as well.

Meanwhile, the Bonnies are 2-0-2 ATS in their last four Tuesday games and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 overall. St. Bonaventure is 22-7-2 ATS in their last 31 at home.

PICK: I’m going with the Bonnies. St. Bonaventure has some high expectations in 2021-22 after their championship, and with all five seniors returning to the roster (including A10 First Team selections Kyle Lofton and Osun Osunniyi) things are looking up. The Bonnies’ non-conference schedule looks quite formidable, but the carryover in chemistry will go a long way toward early-season success. I like St. Bonaventure to start off well here on their way to contending for another conference championship.
