The Central Connecticut State Blue Devils and the St. Francis Brooklyn Terriers meet Friday in college basketball action from Peter Aquilone Court. Central CT State is 3-10 so far this year. the Devils lost to Bryant in their last game. As for St. Francis Brooklyn, they’re 3-9 on the season and coming off a loss to Merrimack. Central CT State lost their first five games of the year before their first win over Maine. The Blue Devils went 2-5 over their next seven games with losses to Fordham, New Hampshire, Providence, Stony Brook and Bryant.
In the Wednesday Bryant game, the Blue Devils were down 40-31 at halftime. Central CT State fought back with a 45-40 run from there but still lost 80-76. Davonte Sweatman led the team with 16 points, two rebounds and two assists.
Over on the St. Francis BK side, they lost their first six games this year. The Terriers got wins over Saint Peter’s, Delaware State and Medgar Evers from there, then lost the Wednesday game to Merrimack in their most recent outing.
Matched up against Merrimack, the Terriers were outscored 37-24 in the first half and limped to a 74-64 defeat. Rob Higgins led the team on 18 points, and Tedrick Wilcox doubled up with 12 points and 12 rebounds in 38 minutes of work.
The Terriers are 0-4 ATS in their last four at home and 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall. St. Francis Brooklyn is 0-4 ATS in their last four Friday games.
Meanwhile, the Devils are 7-2 ATS in their last nine overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six after a straight-up loss. The under is 5-2 in Central CT State’s last seven Friday games.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on St. Francis BK, but probably staying away. There’s not a whole lot to like here. The Terriers were buried with a bad first half in the Merrimack game, but prior to that they’d been scoring pretty well. St. Francis BK had a three-game run with 71 or more points in each.
As for Central CT State, they’ve been better scoring-wise as well with 67 or more points in each of their last three. This game could go a lot of different ways; I like a higher-scoring matchup here with St. Francis BK powering out a cover.
