The Hartford Hawks and the St. Francis-Brooklyn Terriers meet Sunday in college basketball action from Peter Aquilone Court. Hartford is still looking for their first win of the year. The Hawks fell to Winthrop in their last outing. As for St. Francis-BK, they’re winless as well and fresh off a loss to Fordham. Hartford has been frustratingly close in a couple of games this year, but no wins as of yet. The Hawks have dropped to Wagner, Campbell, Army, Boston U, Merrimack, App State and Winthrop in succession so far.
In the Wednesday game versus Winthrop, Hartford carried a 42-38 deficit in the first half and scored 37 more points from there in an 82-75 defeat. Austin Williams doubled up with 21 points, 11 rebounds and five assists.
Over on the St. Francis-BK side, they’ve had some close results (but no wins) as well this year. The Terriers’ losses have come to Wisconsin, St. Thomas MN, Penn State, St. John’s, McNeese State, NC A&T and Fordham.
In the Fordham loss, the Terriers scored just 23 points in each half on the way to a 68-46 blowout loss. Leading the way for St. Francis-BK were Michael Cubbage and Larry Moreno, each with 13 points and a combined 12 boards.
St. Francis-BK is 1-6 ATS in the last seven at home and the over is 5-0 in their last five overall. The over is 6-1 in the Terriers’ last seven at home.
Meanwhile, the Hawks are 1-4 ATS in their last five overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win. The over is 5-1-1 in Hartford’s last seven overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Hartford. The Hawks have had four losses this year within seven points, and they’re coming off of one on Wednesday. Hartford hung with Winthrop for most of the game but simply couldn’t overtake the Eagles’ pace. As for St. Francis-BK, they’re coming off their worst scoring outing of the year and haven’t hit 70 points in any of their last three. The good news here is that one of these teams will get a win—I think it’ll be Hartford on a cover.
