The Creighton Bluejays and the St. John’s Red Storm meet Saturday in college basketball action from Carnesecca Arena. Creighton is currently 17-9 overall. The Bluejays lost to Providence in their last game. As for St. John’s, they’re 16-11 on the season after a win over DePaul on Tuesday. Creighton Bluejays
Creighton kicked off the year on an up-and-down 10-8 run across 18 games. The Bluejays are 7-1 in their last eight however, beating Butler, St. John’s, Xavier, Georgetown, Villanova, Seton Hall and UConn in succession.
Creighton saw their win streak snapped by Providence on Tuesday. The Bluejays scored 37 points in the first half, 36 in the second and 13 across two overtimes in a 94-86 loss. Ryan Nembhard led the scoring on 21 points and 10 rebounds.
St. John’s Red Storm
Over on the St. John’s side, they hit a 13-7 run over their first 20 outings of the year. The Red Storm has since gone 3-4 with losses to Creighton, Seton Hall, Xavier and Butler alongside wins over Georgetown, Providence and DePaul.
Matched up against DePaul on Tuesday, the Red Storm fought through two overtimes in order to power out a 92-83 victory on the road. Dylan Addae-Wusu (24 points; 11 rebounds), Joel Soriano (21 points; 16 rebounds) and David Jones (13 points; 13 rebounds) each doubled up.

I’ll probably stick with Creighton in this one. The Bluejays are coming off a frustrating overtime loss to a very good Providence team despite shooting 47.8 percent from the floor. Creighton was out-rebounded 39-37 (7-3 offensive) and coughed up 14 turnovers in the defeat. The last time these teams met up, it was a home win for the Bluejays 104-76 on January 25. Creighton scored 52 points in each half during that victory, and they should be able to post a nice total in this rematch as well. St. John’s is sitting on consecutive victories but I don’t think they’ll hang around with Creighton if the Bluejays bounce back from their Tuesday loss.
