The DePaul Blue Demons and the St. John’s Red Storm meet Wednesday in Big East Tournament college basketball action from Madison Square Garden. DePaul is 15-15 on the year. The Blue Demons are coming off a loss to UConn over the weekend. As for St. John’s, they’re 16-14 and fell to Marquette in their last game. DePaul hit a nice 9-1 run over their first 10 games this year. The Blue Demons would then hit a 1-9 stretch before a win over Xavier. DePaul is 3-1 in their last four games, beating Georgetown, St. John’s and Marquette before a loss to UConn.
Matched up against UConn on Saturday, the Demons were outscored 29-40 in the first half. DePaul came back on a 39-35 run but still lost 75-69. Javon Freeman-Liberty was the leading team scorer on 22 points and three boards.
Over on the Red Storm side, they haven’t lost more than two consecutive games this year—but they haven’t won more than three straight this year either. St. John’s is 1-3 in their last four games with losses to Creighton, DePaul and Marquette.
In the Marquette game on Saturday, the Red Storm trailed by seven points at halftime. St. John’s didn’t get any closer after a 42-43 second half and lost 85-77. Tops in scoring was Dylan Addae-Wusu with 19 points and two rebounds.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on DePaul. I’m probably not touching this one, though; these teams seem pretty evenly matched. The Red Storm won their home matchup this year on January 5, 89-84. DePaul returned the favor at home February 27 with a 99-94 win. The Blue Demons have hit 68 points or more in four straight games and they’ve been fairly completive in their losses lately. I like DePaul to power out a cover here, but it’ll likely be close.
