The Dayton Flyers and the Saint Louis Billikens meet Saturday in Atlantic 10 college basketball action from PPG Paints Arena. Here’s a Saint Louis vs Dayton prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Saint Louis vs Dayton pick.

Dayton Flyers Betting Preview

The Flyers opened things up this year at 14-4 over their first 18 games. Dayton would then lose five of the next six games however, falling to La Salle, Saint Joseph’s, Rhode Island, Saint Louis and VCU (with a win over St. Bonaventure) in that time. After wins over Davidson, George Mason, Duquesne, Saint Louis, George Washington and Richmond came a loss to VCU, then a tournament win over St. Bonaventure.

On Friday versus the Bonnies in tournament action, the Flyers kicked off the first half with a 30-27 advantage. Dayton hit a 38-36 run in the second half and finished off the game with a 68-63 victory in the end to move on. Javon Bennett was the star of the show on 27 points with three rebounds, three assists and 6-of-10 on 3-pointers. Jordan Derkack added 15 points as well.

Saint Louis Billikens Betting Preview

Over on the Billikens’ side, they opened thing up at 6-0 ahead of a loss to Stanford on November 28. Saint Louis would then post an 18-game win streak afterward, lasting from December 2 versus Loyola Marymount to February 13 versus Loyola Chicago. After that came a 4-3 run featuring losses to Rhode Island, Dayton and George Mason alongside wins over VCU, Duquesne, Loyola and George Washington for a 28-4 record.

In the Friday tournament matchup with the Revolutionaries, the Billikens were in major trouble at the break, sporting a 48-34 deficit on the scoreboard. Saint Louis roared back in the second half on a 54-33 run however, eventually taking the comeback victory 88-81. Leading the team in scoring was Robbie Avila with 22 points, four assists, three rebounds and two blocks in 30 minutes of work.

Saint Louis vs Dayton Prediction

I’ll stay with the Billikens. Saint Louis was playing with fire in the first half of their win over George Washington on Friday, but found a way to make the comeback. The Billikens ended up shooting 45.8 percent from the field with a very important 92.3 percent (24-of-26) from the line. The 40-33 rebounding deficit didn’t help, but the Billikens held the Revs to just 40 percent shooting on defense. Saint Louis has won three of their last four games now, scoring 79 or more points in all three victories.

These teams split the season series with the home team each getting a win. Saint Louis took the January 30 game 102-71 and Dayton returned the favor on February 24 by a score of 77-62. In the road loss the Billikens shot just 40 percent from the field and 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from outside while giving up 47.1 percent shooting on defense. Saint Louis stayed competitive on the boards and in the paint (30-30 on both) but also coughed up 15 turnovers. The Billikens will need a much cleaner effort here and I think they’ll get it.
