The San Francisco Dons and the Saint Mary’s Gaels meet Saturday in college basketball action from McKeon Pavilion in Moraga. Here’s a Saint Mary’s vs San Francisco prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Saint Mary’s vs San Francisco pick.
San Francisco Dons Betting Preview
The Dons posted a pretty sketchy 6-5 record over their first 11 games this year. San Francisco took victories in five of the next six games though (losing to only Oregon State). After that came a 3-4 stretch with losses to Loyola Marymount, Saint Mary’s, Gonzaga and Santa Clara in the span of seven outings. Across the first 24 games of the season that would give the Dons a 14-10 overall run in the books.
In their Wednesday game versus Loyola Marymount, the Dons were down 37-32 by the end of the first half. San Francisco wasn’t able to bridge the gap from there on a 47-43 disadvantage and took the home loss in the end 84-75. Ryan Beasley was tops on 30 points with seven rebounds. Wang Junjie also finished in double-digits with 19 points and four rebounds.
Saint Mary’s Gaels Betting Preview
Over on the Saint Mary’s side, they cruised to a nice 8-0 start this year, then took losses in two of the next three games versus Vanderbilt and Boise State. The Gaels would post another win streak after that, taking victories in each of the next eight games. A 2-2 run came next with losses to Santa Clara and Gonzaga around wins over Oregon State and Portland, giving the Gaels a 19-4 run in their first 23 outings.
Matched up against San Diego on Wednesday the Gaels managed to power out an 87-60 victory on their home court in the end. Saint Mary’s was led by Dillan Shaw with 14 points, 10 rebounds and two assists. Andrew McKeever came off the bench for 12 points with 12 rebounds, one steal and a block while Liam Campbell chipped in with 11 bench points and two boards.

Saint Mary’s vs San Francisco Prediction
I’ll lean toward Saint Mary’s here, but it’ll be a fun game. The Gaels shot very well (53 percent) from the field in their win over San Diego this week, adding 52 percent (11-of-21) from 3-point range and 80 percent (16-of-20) from the line. Saint Mary’s had a 41-28 rebounding advantage and 19 team assists along the way. That makes three wins in the last four games for the Gaels, who have scored 75 or more points in each of those victories.
These teams last saw each other back on January 13 in an 82-68 road win for the Gaels. In that one, Saint Mary’s shot a very nice 50 percent from the field with 53.3 percent (8-of-15) from outside. The Gaels added a 36-24 advantage on the boards and a 30-26 edge in the paint for a pretty enjoyable overall outing. The rematch should be a comfortable environment for the Gaels, and I like them to flourish.
