The Yale Bulldogs and the Saint Mary’s Gaels meet Tuesday in college basketball action from McKeon Pavilion. Yale is 6-7 on the year thus far. The Bulldogs lost to Monmouth in their last game. As for the Gaels, they’re 11-3 so far and fresh off a win over Missouri State. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Yale started out the year at 3-3 with wins over Vassar, UMass and Siena. Since then the Bulldogs are 3-4, posting losses to Stony Brook, Auburn, Iona and Monmouth along the way.
In the Monmouth game back on December 14, the Bulldogs were outscored 41-25 in the first half and fell 69-60 despite a seven-point second-half advantage. Yale’s leading scorer was Azar Swain on 17 points, and Jalen Gabbidon added 14 points with three boards.
Over on the Saint Mary’s side, they went 6-0 over their first half-dozen games before a loss to Wisconsin. The Gaels won five of their next seven, taking out UC Riverside, Utah State, UC Santa Barbara, Stan State and Missouri State.
In the Missouri State game, the Gaels were down by three points at halftime. Saint Mary’s finished on a 42-22 run for a 75-58 win, however. Matthias Tass led the team with 27 points and six rebounds, while Tommy Kuhse put up 16 points, seven boards and five assists.
The Bulldogs are 1-5 ATS in their last six overall and 2-5 ATS in the last seven road games. The under is 7-2-1 in Yale’s last 10 Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Gaels are 4-1 ATS in their last five at home and 2-6 ATS in their last eight after an ATS win. The under is 7-2 in Saint Mary’s last nine overall.
PICK: I’m going to stay with Saint Mary’s. The Gaels have been on a nice offensive run over their last four games, with 75 or more points in three of those outings. Saint Mary’s got into some early trouble against a good Missouri State team in their last game but were able to finish strong. As for Yale, they’ve put up some good offensive efforts themselves lately, but got stuffed in the Monmouth game. I like the Bulldogs to bounce back and play better here in an eventual Saint Mary’s cover.
