The North Dakota State Bison and the St. Thomas Minnesota Tommies meet Sunday in college basketball action from Schoenecker Arena. Here’s a St. Thomas Minnesota vs North Dakota State prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best St. Thomas Minnesota vs North Dakota State pick.

North Dakota State Bison Betting Preview

The Bison came out of the gate on a pretty choppy run this year, but they’ve done quite well since late November. North Dakota State opened on a 3-4 stretch, taking losses to Illinois State, Cal State Bakersfield, Southern Illinois, and Samford with wins over Jamestown, Santa Clara, and Minnesota Crookston otherwise. A win streak ensued over West Georgia, Utah Valley, Weber State, Northern Colorado, Butler, Wisconsin Stout, Western Michigan, and Cal State Bakersfield, then came two losses versus St. Thomas MN, and Omaha. The Bison would beat Oral Roberts, Denver, Kansas City, South Dakota, and North Dakota before another loss to South Dakota State, giving North Dakota State a 16-7 overall record this season.

In the South Dakota State game on Thursday, the Bison were within one point at the break. North Dakota State didn’t end up getting closer than that, however, losing 72-62 following a 40-31 second half. Jacksen Moni led the team with 19 points with eight rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Tajavis Miller came off the bench for 14 points and seven rebounds in 26 minutes of work, and Masen Miller had 10 points with six boards and one assist.

St. Thomas MN Tommies Betting Preview

Over on the St. Thomas MN side, they similarly had a fairly spotty opening run this year but they’ve looked good since December began. The Tommies went 4-4 in the first eight with wins over North Central MN, Green Bay, St. Norbert, and Portland State alongside losses to Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Wofford, and Milwaukee. After wins over Chicago State, Northern Colorado, Montana, Western Michigan, Crown College, and Bowling Green, the Tommies lost to UC Riverside. Since then it’s been a 7-1 stretch with a lone loss to Omaha amid wins over North Dakota State, North Dakota, South Dakota State, South Dakota, Denver, UMKC, and Oral Roberts, resulting in a 17-6 overall run this year so far.

Matched up against Oral Roberts in their Wednesday game, the Tommies exited the locker room holding a 45-42 edge. St. Thomas MN hit a 41-29 run the rest of the way to finish off an 86-71 victory. Miles Barnstable led the way with 23 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Both Carter Bjerke (three rebounds) and Kendall Blue (five assists) chipped in 13 points apiece. Nolan Minessale added 10 points with three rebounds and two steals.

St. Tomas MN vs North Dakota State Prediction

I’ll stay with St. Thomas MN. The Tommies started pretty slowly against a struggling Oral Roberts team in their last game but everything worked out well in the end. St. Thomas MN notched 57.1 percent shooting with a 31-23 rebounding edge and just five turnovers in a pretty well-rounded victory. That makes 68 or more points in 15 straight games for the Tommies.

The last time these teams met up back on January 2, St. Thomas MN secured a tight 89-85 road win. The Tommies weren’t spectacular from the line (66.7 percent on 12-of-18) but they did shoot 54.4 percent from the field and 46.9 percent from 3-point range with just four turnovers. The major issue, however, was St. Thomas MN’s 40-25 deficit (16-5 offensive) on the boards. North Dakota State could have another big advantage there, so if the Tommies aren’t hitting shots at a nice clip once again in this rematch the Bison could cause some major issues. All things considered though, if they can keep the mistakes minimal and focus on high-percentage shots in a comfy home environment I think the Tommies will be okay.
