Stanford vs Chicago State Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/25/23

Chicago State Cougars

Chicago State managed to go just 3-13 over their first 16 games, beating only Valparaiso, IUPUI and Southern Indiana during that stretch. The Cougars are 2-3 in their last five games with wins over East-West U and Coastal Carolina. 

In the Chanticleers matchup on Monday, Chicago State was up 42-33 going into the second half. The Cougars were outscored 37-32 from there but hung on for the 74-70 win. Leading the scoring was Wesley Cardet with 21 points. 

Stanford Cardinal 

Over on the Stanford side, they were 5-11 at the 16-game mark with wins over Pacific, Cal Poly, Florida State, Green Bay and Loyola IL. The Cardinal are 2-1 in the last three with wins over Oregon State and Oregon. 

On Saturday versus Oregon, Stanford was up 42-27 at the break. The Cardinal hit a 29-27 run in the second half and won 71-64. Spencer Jones led the way on 16 points with six rebounds, and Harrison Ingram added 11 points.

I’m probably staying with Stanford in this one. The Cardinal did a good job against a decent Oregon team in their last outing, shooting 50 percent from the field with 33 rebounds and 11 team assists. Stanford has hit 67 or more points in four of their last five games. As for Chicago State, they’ve scored well recently also with 74 or more points in three of their last four. I like the Cougars to hang around for most of the game, with Stanford eventually pulling out the cover.
