The Colorado Buffaloes and the Stanford Cardinal meet in college basketball action from the Maples Pavilion on Thursday night.
The Colorado Buffaloes will look to build on an 86-78 win over Southern Utah in their last game. KJ Simpson leads the Buffs in scoring and assists with 17.2 PPG and 3.7 APG along with 4.2 RPG while Tristan da Silva has 14.9 PPG and 5.2 RPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Colorado so far this season. J’Vonne Hadley has 9.8 PPG and a team-high 7.4 RPG as well up to this point in the season. As a team, Colorado is averaging 76.4 PPG on 45.8% shooting from the field, 32.7% from three and 64.8% from the foul line this season.
The Stanford Cardinal will try to build on a 75-62 win over Loyola-Chicago last time out. Spencer Jones leads the Cardinal in scoring with 10.8 PPG and 4.1 RPG while Michael Jones has 10.5 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Stanford up to this point in the season. James Keefe has a team-high 5.3 RPG to lead Stanford on the glass this season while Harrison Ingram also has 9.8 PPG with a team-high 3 APG to lead the Cardinal in assists. As a team, Stanford is averaging 68.2 PPG on 43.8% shooting from the field, 30.5% from three and 71.7% from the foul line this season.
Colorado is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games following a win and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a loss while the under is 9-2 in their last 11 road games following three or more consecutive home games. Stanford is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games following a win while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 Thursday games.
I get the case to be made for Colorado here as the Buffs do have some solid wins on their resume up to this point in the year. However, the Buffaloes have also struggled in their two true road games, with a conference loss to Washington and a loss to Grambling State as a double-digit favorite. Stanford is far from a world-beater, but they’ve been playing their best basketball at home this season and until I see Colorado figure things out on the road, I’m going to ride the other side. Give me the Cardinal here.
