Stanford vs Oregon State Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/19/23

The Oregon State Beavers and the Stanford Cardinal meet Thursday in college basketball action from Maples Pavilion. Oregon State is 7-11 on the year so far. The Beavers lost to Arizona State in their last game. As for Stanford, they’re sitting at 5-12 on the season following a loss to Washington State on Saturday. Oregon State Beavers 

Oregon State managed to beat Tulsa, Florida A&M, NW Christian, Washington, Seattle, Green Bay and Denver in their first 14 games. The Beavers are 0-4 since then, falling to UTah, Colorado, Arizona and Arizona State.

In the Sun Devils matchup on Saturday, Oregon State was up 42-39 at the break. The Beavers fell behind on a 35-27 second-half run and lost the game 74-69. Michael Rataj was the leading team scorer on 17 points with four rebounds. 

Stanford Cardinal

Over on the Stanford side, they were 5-9 through 14 games with wins over Pacific, Cal Poly, Florida State, Green Bay and Loyola IL. The Cardinal have since lost three more to California, Washington and Washington State. 

Back on Saturday versus Washington State, the Cardinal held a slim 34-31 lead at halftime. Stanford couldn’t hang on with a 29-25 deficit from there and lost the game 60-59. Maxime Raynaud was tops on 16 points with eight boards. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m going to stick with Oregon State. Granted, there’s not a ton of intrigue involved in this matchup but it should be a competitive game. The Beavers have struggled a bit this year when it comes to putting up points. That said, Oregon State has hit 68 or more points in three of their last five and they gave Arizona State a solid effort back on Saturday. Stanford has hit 66 or more points in five of their last six games themselves, and I like the Cardinal to really push Oregon State in this one. Should be a fun matchup.
