The Utah Utes lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 9-16 on the season after being defeated by the Colorado Buffaloes, 81-76, this past Saturday. Utah led by a 59-49 margin midway through the 2nd half, however, the Utes struggled defensively down the stretch and could not fight back after the Buffalos took a 73-67 lead with 1:47 left in regulation. Utah shot 43.9% from the field & 32.0% from beyond the arc while allowing Colorado to shoot 51.0% from the field & 43.8% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Utes was Branden Carlson who had 25 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, Utah is averaging 70.5 ppg on 41.6% shooting from the field. The Utes are averaging 8.0 three-pointers per game on 33.9% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Utah has been led by Branden Carlson (13.8 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.8 bpg), Both Gach (9.3 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.5 apg), Marco Anthony (9.0 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 2.0 apg), & Rollie Worster (8.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.3 apg).

Defensively, Utah is allowing their opponents to an average of 70.3 ppg on 41.6% shooting from the field. The Utes have a rebound margin of 1.4 and a turnover margin of -2.4.

The Stanford Cardinal snapped a 2-game losing streak and improved to 15-10 on the season after defeating the Oregon State Beavers, 76-55, this past Saturday. Stanford led by a 37-34 margin at halftime and had no trouble pulling away in the 2nd half after taking a 68-48 lead with 4:25 left in regulation. Stanford shot 59.2% from the field & 43.5% from beyond the arc while allowing Oregon State to shoot 50.0% from the field & 35.7% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Cardinal was Harrison Ingram who had 16 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists, & 1 steal.

Offensively, Stanford has been led by Harrison Ingram (11.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.9 apg), Spencer Jones (10.8 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.0 spg), Jaiden Delaire (10.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.0 apg), & Michael O’Connell (7.4 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 3.8 apg, 1.1 spg).

Defensively, Stanford is allowing their opponents to average 68.6 ppg on 44.6% shooting from the field. The Cardinal have a rebound margin of 8.1 and a turnover margin of -4.2.

The Utes are 6-13-1 ATS in their last 20 games, however, are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games vs. Stanford. The Cardinal are 4-2 ATS in their last 6 games, however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Thursday home games.

Utah has lost 12 of their last 13 games and has struggled on both ends of the court as the Utes come into this game ranked just 198th in scoring offense, 291st in FG%, & t-211th in scoring defense. Stanford has struggled a bit as of late, losing 4 of their last 7 games, however, Stanford is an impressive 10-3 at home, and as I think their defense, which ranks 164th in scoring defense & 8th in rebound margin, will have success slowing down the Utah offense, I think Stanford does enough to cover this mid-range home spread. Good Luck!
