Stetson vs Kennesaw State 1/15/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Kennesaw State Owls and the Stetson Hatters meet Saturday in college basketball action from Edmunds Center. Kennesaw State is coming off a Thursday matchup versus Florida Gulf Coast. In that game the Owls managed a big victory. As for Stetson, they’re 7-9 this year and fell to Jacksonville in their last outing. Kennesaw State managed a 4-6 run over their first 10 games of the year with wins over Piedmont, Carver, Charleston Southern and Voorhees. Losses to Samford and Nebraska came next, then a December 30 win over Toccoa Falls. 

In Thursday’s matchup versus Florida Gulf Coast, the Owls posted a 50-33 second-half run on the way to a nice 77-53 win. Top scorer Terrell Burden put up 15 points with eight assists. Alex Peterson doubled up on 10 points and 10 boards. 

Over on the Stetson side, they skidded to a 2-6 start this season with wins over only Florida Memorial and Lamar. The Hatters have been on a better 5-3 run since then. The losses in that stretch came to Miami, Liberty and Jacksonville. 

In Tuesday’s game versus Jacksonville, the Hatters kept the pace in the first half but were outscored 31-24 from there in a 57-50 loss. Leading the way for Stetson was Christiaan Jones with 16 points, six rebounds and a steal. 

The Hatters are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 4-1-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss. Stetson is 1-4 ATS in their last five home games versus a team with a losing road record. 

Meanwhile, Kennesaw State is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 after an ATS win and 5-1 ATS in their last six Saturday games. The over is 4-0 in the Owls’ last four road games. 

PICK: I’m probably going to try Kennesaw State here. The Owls have had mixed results in the win column lately but generally they’ve been scoring pretty well in promising matchups. In the FGCU game, Kennesaw State posted another good offensive outing Thursday versus a solid Florida Gulf Coast team, and I like the Owls to keep it going. 

As for Stetson, they’ve been below 60 points in two of their last three games and really need to step the offense up if they want to compete here. I don’t think the Hatters will quite make a cover.
