Stetson vs Lipscomb Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 2/28/23

The Lipscomb Bisons and the Stetson Hatters meet Tuesday in Atlantic Sun Tournament college basketball action from Edmunds Center. Lipscomb is 19-12 on the season overall. As for Stetson, they’re sitting at 17-12. These teams last met up on Friday in a seven-point overtime victory for the Bisons. Lipscomb Bisons

The Bisons’ season began on a 14-10 stretch through 24 outings. Lipscomb has since gone a decent 5-2 in their last seven with wins over Liberty, Central Arkansas, Jacksonville, Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson. The losses came versus North Alabama and North Florida. 

On Friday versus Stetson, the Bisons scored 34 points in the first half, 47 in the second and 17 in overtime for a 98-91 win. Tops in scoring was Jacob Ognacevic with 29 points, and Derrin Boyd added 20 points with six rebounds. 

Stetson Hatters 

Over on the Stetson side, they managed an 11-10 start to the year. The Hatters are 6-2 in their last eight games with wins over North Alabama, Central Arkansas, Jacksonville, Florida Gulf Coast (twice) and Austin Peay. 

Back on Friday in the Lipscomb matchup, Stetson overcame a 34-30 deficit at the break to eventually force overtime but couldn’t keep up in the extra period. Jalen Blackmon led the way on 20 points and Sam Peek added 19 points. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’m going to take a stab on Stetson. You could easily make a case either way here, though; it should be a close matchup just like Friday’s game. These teams also met up back on December 30 in an 86-80 Hatters win from Allen Arena, which adds an extra layer of intrigue to this tournament matchup. Stetson has been scoring very well lately with 70 or more points in eight straight games. They’re going to need a good bounce-back effort, but I think the Hatters can keep it going and cover in this one.
