The Vermont Catamounts and the Stony Brook Seawolves meet Wednesday in college basketball action from USB Sports Complex. Vermont is currently 13-4 on the year. The Catamounts beat Hartford in their last game over the weekend. As for Stony Brook, they’re sitting at 12-6 and coming off a win over Albany. Vermont posted a 6-4 run over the first 10 games, losing to Maryland, Oakland, UNCG and Providence. Since then it’s been seven straight wins over Brown, Colgate, New Hampshire, Stony Brook, UMBC, NJIT and Hartford.

In the Hartford game on Saturday, Vermont jumped out to a 45-28 halftime lead. The Catamounts posted 37 more points from there in an 82-72 win. Ben Shungu led the team on 24 points with three rebounds, and Ryan Davis added 21 points.

Over on the Stony Brook side, they stumbled out of the gate at 3-4 this year but have really picked things up since then. The Seawolves have won five of their last six games over Farmingdale State, Maine, UMBC, Binghamton and Albany.

Matched up against Albany on Saturday, the Seawolves notched 40 points in the first half and 46 more after the break in an 86-75 win. Anthony Roberts led the way on 18 points with five rebounds, and Jahlil Jenkins posted 14 points with eight boards.

The Seawolves are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Wednesday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall. The over is 5-1 in Stony Brook’s last six overall.

Meanwhile, the Catamounts are 6-1 ATS in their last seven overall and 4-0 ATS in their last four Wednesday games. The over is 7-0 in Vermont’s last seven overall.

PICK: I’m going with Vermont. This one should be a fun matchup, though. The Catamounts have been on a scoring tear over this seven-game win streak. They’ve hit 70 or more points in each game, and 82 or more points in each of their last five. As for Stony Brook, they’ve been at 74 or more points in four of their last six so I wouldn’t be surprised to see this one as a high-total affair.

The last time these teams met up back on January 12, Vermont pulled off a convincing 98-65 win. Ultimately I like Stony Brook to perform better here but I think Vermont will power out a cover, though.
