Syracuse vs Virginia Pick – Basketball Predictions & Odds 1/30/23

The Virginia Cavaliers and the Syracuse Orange meet Monday in college basketball action from the Carrier Dome. Virginia is currently 16-3 overall. The Cavaliers beat Boston College on Saturday. Virginia Cavaliers 

Virginia took their first loss of the year to Houston 69-61 back on December 17. The Cavaliers lost the next game 66-64 to Miami-FL then fell to Pittsburgh 68-65 on January 3. Virginia is 6-0 since then and coming off a win over Boston College

In the Saturday game versus Boston College, the Cavaliers were up 35-27 at the break. Virginia got even better from there with a 41-30 second half and won 76-57. Both Armaan Franklin and Jayden Gardner scored 18 points apiece. 

Syracuse Orange

Over on the Syracuse side, they lost to Colgate, St. John’s, Bryant, Illinois, Pittsburgh and Virginia in their first 16 outings. The Orange are 3-3 since then with losses to Miami-FL, North Carolina and Virginia Tech in that time. 

Matched up against Virginia Tech on Saturday, the Orange were outscored 52-33 in the first half. Syracuse hit a 37-33 advantage from there in an 85-70 loss. Judan Mintz was tops in scoring on 21 points and eight assists. 

ANDREW’S FREE PICK 

I’ll probably stay with Virginia. The Cavaliers are on a pretty good run over this 6-0 stretch. They’ve hit 65 or more options in each of those games and 73 or more in four of them. The last time these teams met up back on January 7, Virginia secured a 73-66 victory at John Paul Jones Arena. This rematch could end up being competitive; Syracuse has hit 68 or more points in six straight games. Ultimately I like the Cavaliers to pull out the cover, though.
