The Utah Valley Wolverines will travel to Wisdom Gym to take on the Tarleton Texans this Wednesday night in College Basketball action.

The Utah Valley Wolverines improved to 16-8 on the season after defeating the New Mexico State Aggies, 72-68, this past Saturday. Utah Valley was outstanding on the offensive end against New Mexico State and was able to hold off New Mexico State for the victory after taking a 62-53 lead with 3:43 left in regulation. Utah Valley shot 47.8% from the field & 60.0% from beyond the arc while allowing New Mexico State to shoot 44.3% from the field & 20.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Wolverines was Fardaws Aimaq who had a double-double with 23 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists, & 3 steals.

On the season, Utah Valley is averaging 73.3 ppg on 46.2% shooting from the field. The Wolverines are averaging 6.7 three-pointers per game on 38.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Utah Valley has been led by Fardaws Aimaq (19.0 ppg, 13.1 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.3 bpg), Justin Harmon (11.7 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.0 spg), Connor Harding (11.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.7 apg), & Le’Tre Darthard (10.1 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 1.4 apg).

Defensively, Utah Valley is holding their opponents to an average of 66.0 ppg on 40.1% shooting from the field. The Wolverines have a rebound margin of 7.7 and a turnover margin of -3.7.

The Tarleton Texans had their 3-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 11-14 on the season after being defeated by the Abilene Christin Wildcats, 77-63, this past Saturday. Tarleton struggled defensively against Abilene Christian and could not fight back after the Wildcats took a 65-54 lead with 7:40 left in regulation. Tarleton shot 44.0% from the field & 20.0% from beyond the arc while allowing Abilene Christian to shoot 50.8% from the field & 35.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Texans was Montre Gipson who had 21 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, & 2 steals.

On the season, Tarleton is averaging 65.2 ppg on 41.9% shooting from the field. The Texans are averaging 4.9 three-pointers per game on 30.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Tarleton has been led by Montre Gipson (15.3 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.3 spg), Tahj Small (13.9 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.2 spg), Freddy Hicks (11.8 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.5 apg), & Shamir Bogues (7.6 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.9 spg).

Defensively, Tarleton is holding their opponents to an average of 66.2 ppg on 44.5% shooting from the field. The Texans have a rebound margin of -3.4 and a turnover margin of 4.1.

The Wolverines are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games, however, are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS win. The Texans are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall & 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games.

Tarleton has been solid at home this season, posting an 8-4 record, however, the Texans have struggled at times on the offensive end and have consistently had issues on the boards. Utah Valley has one of the best unknown players in College Basketball in Fardaws Aimaq and between the fact the Wolverines defeated Tarleton by a 77-55 margin earlier this season and that Utah Valley defense, which ranks t-87th in scoring defense & 30th in defensive FG%, should give the Texans trouble, I’m taking Utah Valley to cover this small road spread. Good Luck!
