Baylor Bears
Baylor kicked off their season on a decent stretch, going 11-5 over the first 16 games. The Bears are a nice 7-1 in their last eight outings, beating Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Texas Tech and Oklahoma in succession.
In the Oklahoma rematch on Wednesday, the Bears took a 41-35 advantage into the locker room. Baylor scored another 41 points from there and won it 82-72. Leading team scorer Keyonte George put up 23 points and Adam Flagler added 20 points.
TCU Horned Frogs
Over on the TCU side, they managed a 13-3 stretch over their first 16 outings. The Horned Frogs have hit a 4-4 run since then however, losing to West Virginia, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Kansas State along the way.
On Tuesday versus Kansas State, TCU came into the second half trailing 36-30. The Frogs were outscored 46-31 from there and lost 82-61. Damion Baugh was the leading team scorer with 16 points, five rebounds and five assists.
ANDREW’S FREE PICK
I’m going to take Baylor in this one. With TCU losing three of their last four, some of the luster has worn off this game. That said, it should still be a good matchup. Baylor is a nice 8-1 over their last nine outings with a lone loss to Texas 76-71 mixed in there. The Bears are scoring well lately with 67 or more points in five straight games. As for TCU, they were able to power out an 88-87 road win the last time these teams met up at Ferrell Center back on January 4. The Frogs’ victory came courtesy of a 49-38 second half. Baylor has plenty of motivation to get some revenge here, and I think they’ll pull off the cover/win.
