Memphis Tigers
The Tigers got off to a great start this year, going 15-2 over their first 17 games. The only losses in that time came courtesy of Villanova and Ole Miss in late November/early December. Memphis would lose to South Florida, Tulane, UAB and Rice before another win over Wichita State, though.
In the Wichita State matchup on Saturday, the Tigers were in trouble with a 30-24 deficit at the break. Memphis came back strong with a 41-33 second half in a 65-63 victory, however. Tops in scoring was David Jones with his 26 points, six rebounds and three assists.

Temple Owls
Over on the Temple side, they hit a 6-3 run in their first nine games. The Owls have lost to VCU, Nevada, Old Dominion, South Florida, East Carolina, North Texas, SMU, Rice, South Florida again, East Carolina again and Tulane in a rough 2-11 run across their last 13 games.
Matched up against Tulane on Sunday, the Owls came out of the break with a 34-29 deficit. Temple rallied to force overtime, but got outscored 16-4 from there in a 92-80 defeat. Jordan Riley led the team in the losing effort with 23 points and six rebounds while Jahlil White doubled on 21 points and 15 boards.

ANDREW’S FREE MEMPHIS VS TEMPLE PREDICTION
I’ll take a stab on Temple here. The Owls are having a pretty rough time these days and they’re coming off a rough shooting performance (37 percent) in another loss to Tulane over the weekend. That said, Temple has been competitive in the last four games with two losses by six points or fewer and two overtime finishes.
As for Memphis, they haven’t quite been themselves lately and just barely squeaked by Wichita State in their last outing. The Tigers should still have total control in Thursday’s matchup, but if Temple plays well I think they can power out a cover at home.
